My spouse LOVES lunchables. I have a huge problem with that, because have you looked at those ingredients lists? Eww! So, I set out to find an alternative that is quick and easy in the mornings. I started buying cheap turkey or ham from the deli, a box of club crackers, a block of cheddar cheese (or whatever we have on hand, anything but american 'cheese product') and some chips or some type of snack. In his lunch each day there is:

  • Club crackers (enough for 5 'sandwiches')
  • 5 rolls of lunch meat
  • 5 or 6 thick pieces of cheese sliced off the block (fits perfectly on cracker)
  • Chips or cheese-it's
  • Fruit roll-up or some strawberries, pineapple, etc..
I pack all that into this container each day. It fits quite nicely, and the dry stuff I pack the night before. Then in the morning all I have to do is roll up some lunch meat and slice some cheese and he is good to go. Way tastier, healthier, and cheaper than a lunchable and when he gets tired of something I can switch it up.

I got a stack of these:

Big part: pb&j, I got a set of sandwich cutters on Amazon that cuts them into dinosaurs and stuff.

Medium part: fruit, usually berries

Small part: 5 Ritz crackers (6 won't fit as well) and slices of cheese

Then I got a set of plastic containers from the dollar store, that work well for goldfish or another snack. Add a juice box and she's good to go!

Here's a mishmash of items that I really love having in my apartment:

  • Command Strips for hanging pictures/mirrors/various objects without putting holes in walls.
  • A diffuser of some sort. I have this one from Saje, but there are lots of different kinds of varying prices on Amazon. You can get different blends of essential oils that smell really nice and help with stress management, sleep, etc.
  • My slow cooker is my best friend, for real.
  • Colouring books are a big thing now. I really like having a few lying around for when I'm bored or need to relax!
  • Containers to pack up all the delicious food she'll be making in her slow cooker! ;)
  • French press and kettle. Also this ADORABLE SLOTH TEA INFUSER.

The black container is actually a take-out container from a Chinese place. The other 2 lunch containers are these

I picked up Easy Lunchboxes. Pricey IMO, but they feel very solid. When they break down I want to look at the bento boxes /u/WigglesKBK mentioned.

Comes in a set of four. Microwaveable, and made of tough plastic. It can pack a lot of food.

I bought one set of these at the beginning of the school year (Aug 2016) and have used them daily for all three lunches - my sons, my bfs, and my own. They have only began to show signs of wear, i think they really gave me a great value for the price. I sometimes pack juicier things like pineapple chunks, yogurt, or last nights dinner and there hasn't been any intermingling between the compartments. I absolutely will be buying another set before next school year. They fit in all 4 different sizes of lunch boxes I have purchased.
