It's a Logitech Trackman. They don't make those anymore - they ditched the wired ones for wireless and the build quality went to shit. I've used a Trackman since the late 90s. I cannot stand a regular mouse.

Logitech used to be fantastic. But I've owned around eight of the wireless pieces of shit, and they have all failed in some way - most of them, the scroll wheel stops working. The second most common problem is one or both buttons not clicking properly.

I did some research out of frustration recently and found that the Japanese are apparently in the trackball game. I just bought an Elecom trackball - a thumb ball like the Trackman - only they offered it in lefty format, so I jumped on that. Back in my mouse days, I always preferred a left mouse so I could write with my right hand.

So at the moment I have a lefty trackball to the left of my keyboard, and my last remaining decently working Logitech Trackman to the right - because playing games often uses WASD+mouse, so.... I need both.

But when my Logitech breaks, I'll be replacing it with an Elecom, if it holds up - but reviews are all great, so I anticipate it will.

I'm right-handed, like most, but have been wanting to train my left hand because it seems like a waste to have an entire appendage that is clumsy and underused. So I started using a Left-Handed Elecom thumb trackball. It has helped tremendously with my dexterity and the cognitive differences from switching between right hand and left. I wanna say that if my Right hand was at 100% functionality, my left is now around 80%, and I can write legibly with it. The thing to keep in mind is that you can't really use your Left hand in the same manner as your Right, because it's coming from a different angle, and generally are pushing rather than pulling. Would definitely recommend this, and thumb trackballs in general.
