Its a little tricky popping the N4's case off, but other than that its easy. Plenty of Youtube videos showing how to do it.
I've changed mine a couple of weeks ago by following this guide. And this is the part you're gonna need (it contains the USB port, the mic and the notification LED).

If you're comfortable tinkering with the hardware, you could try replacing the charger port part.

Sounds like water damage might be the problem, and if so then you'll have to replace the charging port flex cable dock connector ribbon (not sure if all of that is how you say it).
dock connector ribbon. This takes like a month to arrive, so you might want to buy from somewhere else.
Might also need some tools.
