SQ girls are lovely, and definitely cheaper, since they are UFO figures (like claw machines) where the Ichiban Kuji are lucky draw items and therefore rarer.

Mami being my waifu, i want all her figures. I have that formal kimono Mami figure ordered and payed off already. Goals are definitely good, believe me, i never imagined i would buy scales, let alone that Godoka, when i first started with my little Madoka Nendoroid Petite, for $12.

Now, for purchasing, avoid eBay, at least until you learn to spot fakes. Ebay is a great place to buy figures IF you know what to look for. Until then, try to avoid it, or feel free to shoot me the listing and i will gladly comb it over to give you my impression of the listing. Generally the same goes for Amazon, though their return policy makes it a little easier to manage.

Your main sites (the ones i use) will be Mandarake and AmiAmi's preowned section.

Mandarake is a huge multi store chain in Japan, which sells secondhand anime items. Usually their items are marked as damaged, but due to their much higher standards, this usually means small minor creases on the box. They are usually very clear on the damage a box has (usually common, but so miniscule) and any possible damage to the figure, which is almost always never the case. Basically the item probably sat in the warehouse and got "damaged" box from this. They restock items daily, and have lots of rare items and multiple locations getting new stock every day.

AmiAmi preowned is a bit harder to navigate, and uses a different system to classify the condition of items. They use A/B/C to signify the condition of the box and the figure. An A box/ A figure means the item is secondhand but was never opened. a B box/ A figure means the box has some "damage" though is like super miniscule. a C box or C figure usually signifies maybe an actual tear in the box, or dirty figure. Minor problems when considering the reasonable pricing. They restock almost daily, around 8 PM Pacific, and people know this, and will swarm the page to see if something good pops up. Usually the really rare figures (like Godoka) will be sold in seconds, so you have to be a bit vigilant with rare ones. Both sites charge you in yen, though this is better for you (assuming you are in the US) since the conversion rate is still in our favor, getting you more bang for your buck. Shipping can vary depending on the figure and size, but generally EMS shipping for one SQ sized figure will run you about $12 ish, and get there is around 3-4 days, and slower RSAL will cost you around $8 and can take around 2-3 weeks. Even with shipping rates like this (a bit pricey, yes) it is STILL cheaper than buying off ebay or Amazon usually.

Let's see an example:

http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1764286.html

this one is 1,500 yen, and lets say shipping was another 1,500 yen

Current conversion rates makes that around $25 US

Let's look at ebay and amazon

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Magical-Girl-Madoka-Magica-Miki-Sayaka-SQ-Figure-Best-Deal-/201248888924?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2edb5e585c

this one comes out to $40 and ships via RSAL, so you would have to wait 2-3 weeks

http://www.amazon.com/Puella-Magi-Madoka-Magica-Figure/dp/B00B5QX4YM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421465482&sr=8-1&keywords=sayaka+sq

Same story, bit cheaper than ebay at $36, but ships RSAL.

You also run the risk of these being bootlegs on ebay and Amazon(the examples i gave you im pretty positive aren't) where Mandarake and AmiAmi don't deal in that, their employees know what they are doing, so you will get the authentic legit item.

The last place i may suggest buying, is off of MyFigureCollection members. In fact, make an account, it will make your life easier. It is a database where you can track which figures you want, which ones you own and have ordered, and lets you know when they go on sale from other members, and event when they go on sale on Mandarake and AmiAmi when people post comments up. It will also show you if there are known bootlegs of a particular figure, so you are better informed. It is a great site which i frequent constantly.

Here are the links to the stuff i mentioned above:

AmiAmi Preowned section

Mandarake (you will get best results by searching for the japanese characters for the series, which you can find with a simple Google search)

MyFigureCollection

My personal MFC account, where you can see my collection, and other things i have posted

I know this is a lot of information to process and digest, but again, glad to help you along the way. Let me know if you want to purchase her, and need help getting that processed or anything else. My pricing estimates may be slightly off, but are generally pretty close i think.

Holy crap, i wrote you a short novel :P
