What I did to fill this need was get the Bose Quiet Comfort 20i Active Noise canceling some years ago - and loved them, but for bluetooth needs added just a bluetooth adapter to them:

They're not completely wireless (Still have the cable from the earbuds to the bluetooth adapter, but that's pretty easy to deal with) but they are noise cancelling earbuds with bluetooth. So far they've been great for mowing the lawn or living through my colicky baby.

There an easy way to tell if aptx is working...if you have noticeable latency, it’s not using aptx! It’s possible your receiver is picking up the computer built in Bluetooth and not the aptx one. Problem solve with turning things off/on and test with a YouTube drum tutorial video (easy to find a delay in the audio/video that way).
