If you think about movies that teens are likely to see (Knocked Up, Saved!, and Juno among them), it's kind of weird that abortion can be discussed more openly than in books, even if all of those characters decide to go through with the pregnancy instead. Usually you think of books tackling the taboos before they make it to the big screen.

The YA books (that I've read) have been more likely to deal with forced pregnancy via artificial insemination (The Jewel and Eve), perhaps as a more roundabout way to bring up reproductive topics in a way that everyone can agree is bad.

Also, shoutouts to The Bitter Kingdom and Trickster's Queen where girls actually go out of their way to obtain birth control and wait for it to take effect.
