I’ve used a number of Thai pads and these are the best I’ve used. Lightweight but tough enough to stand up to holding kicks for one of my guys who’s a 210lb fighter

I would talk to your instructor and say that you don't feel comfortable holding the bag for that guy. IMHO, they're both being a bit of a jerk. The instructor for making you hold the pads, and the pro for kicking you across the room. There's absolutely no reason to do this except to stroke his ego and be a bully.
