I hope you like it! I've been really happy with the combination so far.

I've read really mixed things about the scatter guards, though. I would recommend checking out the Amazon reviews before committing to that product. One of my SCNs came with a 2.5" galvanized pan from Bass Equipment and I really liked it. Bass pans would be more expensive but might end up being better in the long run. I think they might function better, be easier to clean, and be better at keeping the mess inside the cage. The stainless steel pans, while the most expensive, can be used right out of the box. The galvanized steel pans are cheaper but you would want to seal them with a good layer of spray paint to prevent the metal from absorbing smells over time. I painted mine a dark grey color to match the rest of the cage. If you use spray paint, I've been told that you should let the paint harden for a couple weeks before you use it in the cage. I guess the paint will continue to off-gas some nasty chemicals as it cures. You could price out two pans and a can of spray paint and compare it to the scatter guards to see how much more it would be. In my opinion, it might be worth it.

You can of course also use a concrete mixing tub from Home Depot on the lower level of your cage and it will actually hold in a lot more bedding (but takes up more room).

If you try out the Drs. Foster aspen, be sure to make a post about it. I'm really curious!

This is a good cheaper option that’s similar to the ferret nation

This scatter guard can be added to help the bedding from coming out the sides

Mine too. I've seen that they sell guards on amazon but I don't know how good they work.

Wow those are some lucky weasels!! Well, one thing I saw on amazon was a scatter-guard for the cage.. might help with the food not getting outside the cage, and mine tend to eat the food that lands inside the cage. I don't have a scatter guard, so I can't testify as to its effectiveness, but might be worth a try?
