I’m with you. Have 2 iPod classics that function perfectly, no time nor patience to mod them. Instead I added a Fiio player with 2 micro sd slots for over 500 GB of lossless & high res files. Sounds fantastic!

I don't use the iPod Classic anymore, the POS died on me. I now use the FiiO X5 mp3 player.
This one is actually much better in a lot of ways. It holds more, which is great. It can take two SD cards. 128GB each. I think it's formatted to handle 256GB each, but I don't know yet. Haven't tested it. Device sounds great.
