That's exactly what I did. I used to be all-in on jailbreaking my Kindle Keyboard to do everything from changing the screensavers to running Duokan, but once I upgraded to the Paperwhite, along with getting that cover that auto unlocks (the third-party ones work for this as well, at least the one that I got), I lost all interest in jailbreaking.
If you're only going to be reading in bed then you probably don't need a case. I got this one for my mine.
Magnetic wake/lock, slim, and the cover folds all the way back.
