The Fiskars axes cannot be beat. I purchased this chopping axe about a year ago and it has since been permanently mounted on the tailgate of my Jeep. This thing feels so light and sturdy but it just annihilates trees and branches. It just eats through the limbs like its nothing, a joy to use. With this axe you can fell a large tree, lop off limbs, split wood and kindling, and make fire shavings. Not to mention if the zombies ever come you'll be prepared.

It is lighter and doesn't have the wider cheeks that so many people seem to hate it doesn't have a wood handle so some people don't like it but it cost 35 dollars and has a life time warranty so if it ever breaks you get a new one. I've used mine for 4 years camping and some logging (my only source of heat is a wood burning stove) and I have zero complaints. And I have some good wood handled axes I enjoy restoring but when it comes to using I always go back to the Fiskars.

Fiskar's 23.5" Chopping Axe.
I can fell a 6" tree in a dozen swings, but it's still light and portable enough to carry through the woods. You can't beat it for twice as much.
I had a Fiskar's hatchet before and it worked really well for 90% of my tasks, but I wanted something with a bit more power.
I wanted a Gransfors, but I was afraid of chipping it on the hard woods found here in KY.
My brother and I have talked about this. We have both agreed something like this would do well: link You don't want a super big or heavy axe, but you still want it long enough to generate some force.
Something like this would be a beast for buzzing up a small tree.

Right now I'm leaving slightly towards the Fiskars, since i live in such a dry climate. My current axe is about to come off the handle because the handle had shrunk so much.
