The older I get the less I see the need for super fancy expensive stuff it seems. Use to get fancy leathery chairs that were hundred of dollars and now I got a mesh chair that's fairly cheap and can say it's been the best chair I have ever got so far. I'm surprised the price has gone up about $25 since I got it two years ago though.

Between those two I'd get the mesh one. When I was younger I was all over the (p)leather chairs but I moved onto the mesh ones due to better ventilation for the back.

What about this one? It's under $100 and has a ton of good reviews:

Can't really speak to low priced chairs but something like this would probably be best.

Note that the armrests fold back instead of adjusting down, meaning you won't have to worry about them bumping into the bottom of your desk. I've also found mesh office chairs tend to have better back support than cushioned ones, unless you're getting one with an adjustable back support cushion, like you see on all the DxRacer gaming chairs.

Ok I have this chair except I totally bought it from office depot.

I'm 6'1" and 365lbs. I've had this chair for 2 years. No breaking down of padding, no snapping parts, no nothing. It's great. I paid $120 for it and I love it. I know you said you'd need a high backed chair, but you really don't. If you absolutely do, I think they have one somewhere.

I ordered this one from Amazon for my VR chair, primarily for the flip up arms (so it could be used in "cockpit" games, as well as "flail your arms around" games). I'm really pretty happy with it for this purpose.

I chose to leave the wheels off when assembling it, so that it will "stay put" in the prime VR camera zone, but still allow rotation.

His wife suggested an office chair. I ordered this one -https://www.amazon.com/Flash-Furniture-Mid-Back-Swivel-Flip-Up/dp/B00KUPS3JU/ref=sr_1_8?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1525636778&sr=8-8&keywords=office+chair&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011 - but the link diddn't finish. Do you think it's good, or do you have any suggestions on another?

I am in the same situation, I plan on buying this chair. The arms swivel up out of the way, and the price has dropped a bit since I have been looking.

I'm a big fan of this chair. The arms fold up so I can play guitar sitting in it and it rolls under the desk top nicely. It's very comfortable and stays cool. My old chair used to make me sweat cause the back and base were leather material. The one I linked is just fine, at least for me.

I would look at Amazon, my boss has just ordered some of these: https://www.amazon.com/Mid-Back-Black-Swivel-Padded-Flip-Up/dp/B00KUPS3JU

This one is definitely out of your price range, but I have seen it go for $150 on sale. It's stupidly comfortable, breathable (no back sweat), and supportive without being too hardcore. It's a great chair for us big and tall folks, because the mesh back goes up all the way to provide support to your spine and your head. The only reasons I replaced it with my DXRacer are that it (a) doesn't have adjustable arms and (b) needs just a little more lumbar support. But if you aren't three inches from your monitor like I am (bad eyes) that latter probably won't be a problem, and the arms only needed to be wider, not higher, to suit my shoulders. I used it for over three years, and it still worked as well as the first day without any maintenance, other than the occasional WD-40. Now that it belongs to my dad, he won't trade it for anything.

I've also heard good things about this chair from a friend, but I haven't tried it myself. It seems to suit his scrawny self perfectly, though.

And while I understand that budgets are a reality we all have to deal with, I'd recommend splurging a little on a quality desk chair. Your back and shoulders will thank you in the long run, particularly as you get older. I'm only 26, and I've already noticed a definite change in how much bad posture my body is willing to put up with.
