Almost 7 years tv-free.

Tv destroys your ability to think. It tells people what to believe, and people believe what they are told to believe, without putting any conscious effort into whether it is true or not. There isn't any discussion, no examination---just one-way information. And the zombified population just nods along in agreement, never questioning.

Check out this awesome book written back in the '70s: Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television, by Jerry Mander

There are two books in particular that still stick out in my head, many years after I've read them:

Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television - once you've read it, you'll never watch TV or movies the same ever again. It's a fascinating study.

The Road - No explanation necessary. It's just one of the finest pieces of American Literature ever written.

But how is the fitness / flexibility level of those who drink green tea a lot? Green tea - I think of Asia. I think of slow walking Asians. Yeah...I was just in Taiwan. But coffee is all over Asia now though....and pop/soda to a lesser degree.

Personal experience...works wonders. It is evidence.

We've become so paralyzed - individually - and reliant on formal studies that we don't observe for ourselves. Let alone consider the dark side. We live in a POSITIVE-BIAS society. Nearly ALL MARKETING is positive. A lot of science - is junk science to support commercial goals. 9 out of 10 doctors say Crest.......our studies show smoking to be harmless. Wireless radiation is harmless, it's non-ionizing. _____ is good for you - buy our product. Lycopene in tomatoes! Our product is made with REAL honey! Of course..you NEVER see a product that says - our product is made with FAKE honey - or whatever.

Formal studies have their place, but so does personal observation..and especially personal experience. EVERY person / CULTure is an experiment.

Anyway..if caffeine attacks nervous system of insects (Caffeine is a natural pesticIDE / insecticIDE) IDE = DIE. We are larger than bugs, but we consume a lot more too!

Side note - homicIDE, suicIDE, patricIDE, genocIDE, fratricIDE, biocIDE, ...many more. In other languages ending is -IDA. Same meaning if you know how vowels change. All to do with DEath. Ever notice that? Maybe u have, but vast majority of people don't even know what is right in front of our noses and that which comes out of our own hands....neither did I, until I was told/shown otherwise. But by then I largely humbled my heart/mind.

A book - Four Arguments Against TV...made an interesting remark. It stated that with rise of TV we started to stop thinking for ourselves and became (more) reliant on "doctor / formal studies." Forget how it was phrased exactly in the book. Lots of other good nuggets.

Side note: This reminds me of the book I'm currently reading called The Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television by Jerry Mander, a man who worked in a top New York marketing agency all of his life. The book was published in 1978, but wow is it applicable to social media use.

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming...
