Well there is no reason to worry too much, it is actually 9.99 on Amazon right now.

Are you in NA? When the PSN store updates later today, there may be some games on sale, so I'd keep an eye on that. And if you're in EU, Ys: Memories of Celceta is on sale currently.

I'd recommend looking into Freedom Wars, which is currently on sale at Amazon for $15.

Try this image, which shows a lot of recommended games. It also lists future releases, and currently Japan only games which have not been announced for Western release.

> Any way Amazon would price match it? I'd love to get it with my free prime shipping. Not having a Best Buy anywhere near me sucks. Their shipping is a little much for my taste.

priced matched now with free shipping

I vote yes. There definitely won't be a new Vita coming out any time soon. Any new releases will most likely be fully-compatible upgrades, like the recent Vita 2000 upgrade, which was the same thing they did with the PSP. I mean, it's already got hardware almost as good as a PS3.

First, the good

There are a lot of great games on it that aren't all pervy Japanese ones (and if you're into that, there are lots of those too). There aren't a lot of western titles, but the ones that are there are great. Here's a quick list of some great non-indie Vita games:

  • Killzone Mercenary
  • Persona 4 Golden
  • Freedom Wars
  • Gravity Rush (Gravity Daze in Europe I think)
  • Uncharted Golden Abyss
  • Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z
  • Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
  • Final Fantasy X and X-2 bundle
  • Borderlands 2
  • Soul Sacrifice and Soul Sacrifice Delta
  • Tales of Hearts R
  • Dustforce

plus it can play almost all PSP games, including the Peace Walker. There is also Playstation Now which is like a digital Blockbuster where you stream all the titles to you Vita.

And if you have a PS4, you can obviously do remote play.

    Lastly, the bad :(

Not much AAA western support recently. As you probably already know, the Vita is the butt of many jokes, and the 3DS has sold way more units. For this reason, games like Killzone Mercenary are relatively rare gems, and likely not going to see any sequels any time soon. This is not to say that there aren't any AAA games, because there are. a ton. In Japan. The Vita is extremely popular over there and for that reason there are a shitload of games. Unfortunately, the majority of those don't get localized for the west (looking at you Sega, greedily haoarding Phantasy Star Online 2). Also, Japanese games aren't exactly the most...familiar thing for western gamers. Lots of pervy stuff there that most people aren't comfortable with.

Occasionally though we do get some really awesome games from Japan, such as Freedom Wars. Also, Resident Evil Revelations 2 is coming to Vita.

As a fan of the Vita, I hope you get it because more people buying it means more games. Sure, it might not have Pokemon or the Legend of Zelda, but it is a great console with a ton of features.
