Even in U.S. seems this series is just $85.
WB is releasing a complete series Blu Ray box set for Friends this fall. If it's successful, I would expect them to start doing other big series too, like The West Wing.
In the meantime, the entire series is available in HD on iTunes (which is very expensive of course), but also for free on Amazon Prime.
I have the complete set (See Here) and it does have both French Subs and French Dub IIRC from the last time I looked.

If you are used to HD or 4K the DVDs will look pretty bad by comparison.

If you want Friends in widescreen, you need the Blu-ray release. I'm not sure if the individual Blu-ray season releases are widescreen, but I'd expect they're the same discs.
