I don't! I might shift into that kind of role when I eventually become a medical examiner. I always like to recommend Caitlin Doughty and her YouTube series "Ask a Mortician." She also has two really beautiful books: From Here To Eternity and Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.
Mostly religious reasons, traditional taboo, etc.
Here's a fantastic book on the subject overall - https://www.amazon.ca/Here-Eternity-Travelling-World-Death/dp/0393249891/ref=asc_df_0393249891/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=293027174108&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7916633068069963334&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001326&hvtargid=pla-304773371916&psc=1
From Here to Eternity: Traveling the World to Find the Good Death by Caitlin Doughty. Non-fiction, about death and burial customs around the world. Really eye-opening, funny, and easy to read.
First off, my condolences. Much love to you and your family right now. I can’t imagine what you’re going through.
There are books, I recommend “From Here to Eternity ” by Caitlin Doughty,
She has a YouTube channel called Ask a Mortician which is how I became more comfortable with confronting death. She makes fun/educational videos about death.
There are no answers and we probably won’t ever know. To me, I think it’s best to live life as if there is no afterlife, because if you only have one shot you should cherish it.
I personally think it is the same as before we are born. But, who knows.
Everything we do in life is a result of our fear or acknowledgment of death, it drives almost everything we do. It’s the one most certain thing in life. I don’t have answers for you but you are asking the right questions. It gets easier the more you confront it, but it’s still normal to fear it.
Goodluck with everything. ❤️
Just a note, I think it's called "From Here to Eternity". I searched on Amazon but couldn't find "...to Infinity" but the author's name brought up the correct title.
