Well I'm not sure what you were expecting exactly. Consoles have always had storage limitations, especially regarding moving your save data to other systems. Modern systems are much simpler to use in that respect with the online storage available with PS+/Live holding your game saves for use on other consoles. If you're wanting to take your digital game with you, and you plan on doing that a lot, then the One will be your best choice since you can just take your external drive with the installed games with you. Personally, the games on the PS4 are better (to me) than being able to install games on an external drive and take them with me to another console. I wish I had that option on PS4, but I don't (yet).

Disks on PS4 don't typically take "hours" to install; it is normally only minutes. A few exceptions might be GTAV and other extremely large games that have custom installs, but for the most part it is very quick (especially compared to the One). You may need to wait for patches to download to get online, but those are typically optional if you just want to jump straight into single player or local MP (whereas the One treats patches as part of the install process, which greatly lengthens the time required to simply get into a single player game, like Tomb Raider for instance). If installing game data and patches is that big of a deal for you then just take your console with you. It's not really that difficult to transport safely. One of these makes it really easy; I use mine all the time.

As someone that wants to get one of THESE when they make them for next gen consoles, I guess they will only make ps4 ones, because the whole point of taking my console with me means I wont be around places with wifi all the time.

No card? I feel your pain. Sort of. My last birthday, my 29th I never got a card from my wife or kids. They're only 3 and 5 so I blame their mother. She is downright terrible with cards... And cake. So this year, for my upcoming 30th all I have asked for is a card. That's it. Just a nice card. It doesn't even have to be from her but I at least want one from my kids.

I don't necessarily need this or this, but boy would they ever put a huge shit eating grin on my face ear to ear.

At first I thought it was a HORI branded portable monitor for PS4, but it looks like a "GAEMS G155 Sentry Personal Gaming Environment"

I was looking into it a few years ago for my ps3 and at that time the only options I could find was buying a video capture device or buy a small tv screen. I read that the capture cards had some lag so it was not ideal anything PvP. I ended up going on amazon and getting a GAEMS portable gaming system.

This won't solve the set up and tare down time, but have you ever heard of the Gaems cases? They are cases with a built in 15.5 -19'' screen that you can carry your console and controllers in and game in. I used this set up over the holidays and have taken it to work so I can share the experience with people.

There are two main versions of the case. The sentry has a 15.5'' screen and gets the job done well. It goes on sale often at Amazon for $179 while the regular price is $199.
The vanguard is more robust and has a 19 inch screen but rarely gets discounted. $349 is a big step up in price and it's main reason for existing was to fit an Xbox one comfortably. Here is everything I use in my set up if you're interested.

Gaems vanguard: 19 inch screen version

Gaems sentry: 15.5 Inch screen amazing product for price point.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A7VK16A/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747244&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=gaems&dpPl=1&dpID=41aoGH76KRL&ref=plSrch

Psvr travel case: there are cheaper alternatives but I have this one and it's great.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LB4KJ90/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747548&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=psvr+case&dpPl=1&dpID=41iSXH1b7QL&ref=plSrch

AC 2 to 1 tail plug: this is great because in some rooms you might not have room to plug everything into a single outlet. This gives you 2 outlets with 1 plug. The psvr, ps4, and screen all need to be plugged in so this makes it a bit easier to accomplish.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000QZ6KBC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747673&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ac+2+to+1&dpPl=1&dpID=512TfCxLsfL&ref=plSrch

Extra ac power cord for the ps4: not needed but one less thing to route and hook up at home.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0017UCTX8/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747983&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=polarized+ac+power+cord&dpPl=1&dpID=41243qPxqsL&ref=plSrch

Extra ps4 camera: again not needed but helpful to leave one in the psvr carrying case. They go on sale often at Amazon for $39.99

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LW1OM63/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485748117&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ps4+camera

Gaems PGE battle bag: not needed at all but I love this thing. Designed to fit all the cases and keeps them from getting dinged up. Also has a Very large pouch on the side for more storage.

https://gaemspge.com/store/pge-battle-bag.html

Also worth picking up would be some kind of car visor or slim cd traveling case to hold 24 or so of your favorite games. You can place it under neath the straps that secure the console just fine.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000CAO7XO/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1485753365&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=cd+visor&dpPl=1&dpID=41MAD8WSA1L&ref=plSrch

Lastly, some form of luggage locks. I've never had a problem with the case popping open, but I've also never risked it. I have these combo locks and they work great.

This has really made the vr much easier to lug around for me and awesome way to share it with people.

u/BlurtedNonsense · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I been neglecting my PS4 as the Switch has been a console with genuinely fun games. Games that wasn't trying to constantly take my money, or feed off of other psychological human exploits. Not to mention I was burned on a few games over the past couple of years that has me cautiously distrust some publishers. The Switch has brought me back to a time when I was a kid playing the SNES for the first time. It has brought back the days of fun couch multiplayer, and has easy to pick up games so that even my family can join in without really needing another system to play. The moment I was able to move without being tethered to the TV, or have to buy some crazy not quite [portable heavy briefcase] (https://www.amazon.com/Sentry-Personal-Gaming-Environment-playstation-4/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1505205286&sr=1-1&keywords=portable+gamer+tv+case) is when I started to realize the Switch replaced my PS4 without even realizing it.

Until I decided to turn it on again and had 150gb worth of updates awaiting me. I'm currently abroad and don't have the best connection for that kind of inconvenience right now. To give you an idea of when the last time I have played a game on my PS4 was when I finished Horizon Zero Dawn a weekend after it came out, and bought the Switch shortly after. I was enchanted by this portable device and was hooked the moment I started playing BOTW.

So, OP beware, you may neglect your PS4 without knowing it. Until a small layer of dust developed and you started using it as a Netflix/Youtube box. I can only Imagine how much i'll neglect it once Streaming services appear on the Switch. It's only a matter of time.

u/will99222 · 2 pointsr/gaming

Not sure if you deliberately left it out to make you seem more correct, but you forgot the case/screen in the OP, which u/ClarkWasHere was talking about.

Going by your use of €, you are European. Getting the GAEMS Vanguard (the case in the OP) will cost you €600 as they do not ship outside of the US on their website.

€235+€17+€599.99=€851.99.

I've got a case for my Xbox I bought on amazon.
This is it right here.
I find it handy as hell, especially considering I work shift work sometimes on the road. My Xbox never really leaves it, even on my normal TV.

Portable screen solution for the Xbox360
XBox 360 VGA Adapter

I would recommend the latter if you have a desktop computer already and an open VGA port - one screen, two functions. Get that with the aforementioned monitor, use the DVI for PC and VGA for Xbox.

u/BWallyC · 1 pointr/gaming

I have this exact thing. It's by "Gaems." I use it for my ps3 but it works for Xbox 360, Xbone, and PS4 as well. Cost about $200 on amazon. The screen is not bad, 720 I think. The range of viewing is narrow so it's not great for multiple players. And to get to you to read the user's guide, they peppered random facts about kangaroos through out it. The warning sticker is funny too, "bla bla bla, you could hurt yourself of worse, your gaming console."

e/ Not many downsides: You need 2 outlets for the console and the TV so I keep a 6', three outlet extension cord with mine.

I'm not sure if this makes any sense to u. I haven't tried this or seen anyone tried it. Getting an alienware alpha with this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_K1J.ub0K52X1Y or something similar. It's kinda in between the laptop and the desktop in terms of portability

GAEMS is the only company you want to buy these things from. They make performance cases with monitors that the professionals use.

The [Sentry](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_RqBdvb0651EM8
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_RqBdvb0651EM8) is the cheapest monitor/case GAEMS. 15 Inch 720p HDMI screen. Heard the Xbox One a tight fit in that model. The next one up is the [Vanguard](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mtBdvb1R2GN4Y
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mtBdvb1R2GN4Y). It's got a 19 inch 720p HDMI screen. Unlike the Sentry, it comes with a case shoulder strap and interior case lighting. The Xbox One has a bit more room in the case as well. The last model (that's currently out) is the [M155](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45U628/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_0BBdvb057840Q
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45U628/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_0BBdvb057840Q) which is an HDMI iPad-like ultra-light monitor that runs entirely on USB3 power. It doesn't include a case, however for a bit extra you can get a [cool backpack bundle](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PFCT900/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_xEBdvb1YQYAZV
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PFCT900/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_xEBdvb1YQYAZV) for it.

Hope this helped you.

Didn't read the bit about Public transportation, sorry. Yes it's a smaller screen. Although a great option would be an Xbox 360 or PS3 in a Games Personal Environment case, I'd Imagine it will also work with the PS4 and Xbox One in the future. You can probably get this case, an Xbox 360/PS3, 2 controllers, and a few games for under 800 bucks.

u/linedrive18 · 1 pointr/gaming

For the top of the line, sure. But mine was $149. Another quick google search and this was amidst the more expensive ones.

I didn't know what you were talking about until I googled it and found it on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/GAEMS-G155-Sentry-Personal-Gaming-Environment/dp/B00A7VK16A

if that is too heavy, buy a portable DVD player that has AV-in. They are fairly common, but you are limited to SD video.

u/Dealjobber · 1 pointr/gaming

What are the length/width/depth dimensions?

Will I still be able to fit it in this?

I'm guessing I'll just have to get a new one.

u/rorking · 0 pointsr/gaming

Well 4 years of PS+ is not necessary to buy outright, and it can also be found for less than $40 usually, let alone $50. Other than that, lifetime of a console is potentially longer before a hardware upgrade is necessary. Also, there are cheaper portable console cases with screens (you actually chose one of the most expensive ones) like this one

http://www.amazon.com/Sentry-Personal-Gaming-Environment-playstation-4/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1451943511&sr=1-3&keywords=gaems

or this one

http://www.amazon.com/Performance-Portable-Monitor-Consoles-console-included/dp/B00P45U628/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1451943511&sr=1-2&keywords=gaems

which is admittedly not nearly as convenient, but is cheaper.

Anyway, I'm just trying to say that depending on your needs and habits, consoles can be cheaper, and sometimes simpler to use. Again, they can of course turn out to be more expensive in the long run, I'm just saying it's not always the case.

In the end, I just don't see the point of trying to prove that one option is better than the other, and I don't consider myself superior or inferior to other people based on whether they game or what platform they use for gaming.
