For those unfamiliar with the brand -

Gaems is well known for their portable gaming environments

GAEMS VANGUARD Personal Gaming Environment for Xbox One S, Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 (Consoles Not Included) - Xbox One https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_T1DLDb23B6B0T

It's no surprise to me that they're expanding their product offerings to desktop gaming monitors, considering their success with portable monitors.

The more concerning thing for me is Newegg's dead pixel policy. If it was Amazon, I'd take have no problem taking a chance on Gaems

It's a travel case specific for consoles, nothing new and nothing harmful for the console.

u/dysgraphical · 8 pointsr/nyc

There a lots of DIY guides for a "portable xbox one" setup online.

If you have the money and not the time, you could always buy one of those portable console kits like
>https://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-Personal-Environment-XBOX-ONE-S/dp/B00H0R9DSG

and hook it up to a huge UPS.

u/IridianRaingem · 4 pointsr/xboxone

Not the switch cause their are currently not many games out on it. I would suggest any normal console and get this to make it portable if that’s your main focus. PS4 has more games and exclusives.

u/AhhGetAwayRAWR · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

The Fractal Design Node 202 is just a bit bigger than an Xbox One and would probably go nicely with one of those monitors. Or, also from Gaems, the Vanguard would give you a desktop in a laptop style thingy. Screen is only 720p though.

u/imperialguy3 · 3 pointsr/techsupport

Regular, low to mid end laptops typically use about 90watt adapters, but gaming laptops are around the 200watt mark because of the thirsty GPUs. When a gaming laptop is running everyday programs, you can get away with running on battery power for ~2-4 hours. As soon as you play a game though, your GPU starts sucking power straight from the power adapter if its plugged in. If not, youll be lucky to last over an hour, in my experience. I have a 1070 in my laptop.

PS3 Slim reportedly takes 96.3watts under gaming load. OP will have to take into account whatever wattage the monitor requires on top of that. Figure out voltage ratings. I would assume youd need a 4000+mah Li Ion battery. Even still I doubt youd get to the 2hour mark when playing.

Something useful for others wanting to take on such a project is a prebuilt travel station like this one

Edit: I may have severely underestimated what size of battery is needed. Found a guy on YouTube that built a battery powered PS3 using 3 x 6000mah LiPo batteries (18,000mah total).

u/Icekaged · 3 pointsr/gaming
u/Z3ppelinDude93 · 3 pointsr/gaming

Some context - I was at Starbucks to meet up with a few old friends last night, and noticed this guy gaming in the corner when I came in. We were there for about two hours and he was still going strong when we left. He was running a PS4 in what looked like a GAEMS case, and although I couldn't make out what game he was playing, I did notice him put on Straight Outta Compton from the media player.

u/PirateKilt · 3 pointsr/gaming

> really want one now.

How about 2 days via Amazon Prime?

u/miserybusiness21 · 3 pointsr/Kappa

There is this if you already own a ps4. And this if you want to buy an all in one unit or do not own a ps4.

u/Zedyy · 3 pointsr/xboxone

If you travel a lot, I would highly recommend the GAEMS case..

If you just want a monitor, they offer that too, the GAEMS M155 15"

u/Gigafrost · 3 pointsr/gaming

Everything I read about GAEMS gaming suitcase stuff was that the hardware negotiated at 1080 but displayed at 720. It was pretty much the primary complaint about the product on Amazon, I think? Either that or the complaint was that the product description didn't clearly indicate that at some point in the past.

Either way, the listing mentions it now:

> Immerse yourself in every detail with the Vanguard’s non-reflective 19" 720p (1080p scaled) El-LED display.

u/lllVexolll · 3 pointsr/PS4

My local Gamestop has a suitcase tv (Guardian, I believe it's called) for sale for $200. It will hold the fat boy PS or the Xbox 360. I was thinking of getting one for the portability. Plus it looks awesome.

Edit: It's called a Vanguard.

This won't solve the set up and tare down time, but have you ever heard of the Gaems cases? They are cases with a built in 15.5 -19'' screen that you can carry your console and controllers in and game in. I used this set up over the holidays and have taken it to work so I can share the experience with people.

There are two main versions of the case. The sentry has a 15.5'' screen and gets the job done well. It goes on sale often at Amazon for $179 while the regular price is $199.
The vanguard is more robust and has a 19 inch screen but rarely gets discounted. $349 is a big step up in price and it's main reason for existing was to fit an Xbox one comfortably. Here is everything I use in my set up if you're interested.

Gaems vanguard: 19 inch screen version

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00H0R9DSG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747244&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=gaems&dpPl=1&dpID=31SkqJCR2cL&ref=plSrch

Gaems sentry: 15.5 Inch screen amazing product for price point.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A7VK16A/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747244&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=gaems&dpPl=1&dpID=41aoGH76KRL&ref=plSrch

Psvr travel case: there are cheaper alternatives but I have this one and it's great.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LB4KJ90/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747548&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=psvr+case&dpPl=1&dpID=41iSXH1b7QL&ref=plSrch

AC 2 to 1 tail plug: this is great because in some rooms you might not have room to plug everything into a single outlet. This gives you 2 outlets with 1 plug. The psvr, ps4, and screen all need to be plugged in so this makes it a bit easier to accomplish.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000QZ6KBC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747673&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ac+2+to+1&dpPl=1&dpID=512TfCxLsfL&ref=plSrch

Extra ac power cord for the ps4: not needed but one less thing to route and hook up at home.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0017UCTX8/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1485747983&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=polarized+ac+power+cord&dpPl=1&dpID=41243qPxqsL&ref=plSrch

Extra ps4 camera: again not needed but helpful to leave one in the psvr carrying case. They go on sale often at Amazon for $39.99

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LW1OM63/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485748117&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ps4+camera

Gaems PGE battle bag: not needed at all but I love this thing. Designed to fit all the cases and keeps them from getting dinged up. Also has a Very large pouch on the side for more storage.

https://gaemspge.com/store/pge-battle-bag.html

Also worth picking up would be some kind of car visor or slim cd traveling case to hold 24 or so of your favorite games. You can place it under neath the straps that secure the console just fine.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000CAO7XO/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1485753365&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=cd+visor&dpPl=1&dpID=41MAD8WSA1L&ref=plSrch

Lastly, some form of luggage locks. I've never had a problem with the case popping open, but I've also never risked it. I have these combo locks and they work great.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01J3U7PDC/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This has really made the vr much easier to lug around for me and awesome way to share it with people.

Finally I know about something semi unseen and I'm 5 hours late for the karma. All military know what these porta-console televisions are about. They are overpriced plastic containers with a cheap IPS panel surrounded with foam. They only sell because of game addictions with active military needing play time while deployed. Link to buy: http://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-Personal-Environment-consoles-playstation-4/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1451938622&sr=1-1&keywords=gaems

u/ChrisWF · 2 pointsr/gaming

Similar to those?

u/CrippledPadawan · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

I usually carry one of these with me when I travel for work. It's a bit pricey, but as an IT guy traveling 60% of the time it's a life saver as far as Destiny goes. TSA safe!

u/thenaugher · 2 pointsr/PS4

u/takaides · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Back when I was travelling a couple times a month, I got one of these. It made it a bit more convenient in that I didn't have to do much to set it up wherever I ended up. I could get the charging brick on one side, some cables in the back and front, and a controller and PSU for the screen on the other side. It can not travel with any cords plugged in at all, but when I really wanted it (rained out beach trip with some "in-laws" being just one example), it was invaluable. It also works with anything that takes HDMI and anywhere that you have access to 120V outlets (one for the screen, one for the console).

I would not suggest getting one for a single weekend trip, but if you travel enough, it can be worth it.

> And what I think you are missing is the portability aspect.

I mean you could do this, or this, or that too...... xD

u/OisinS · 2 pointsr/xboxone

If you're planning on taking your console with you and you're worried about not having a 4K TV, hold off on buying the Xone S until you're back and maybe purchase something like this for your travels - I've read before and the comment below also mentions that there really isn't much point in the console without a 4K TV.

u/Unknown9118 · 2 pointsr/gaming

They're pretty easily obtainable and there are several kinds of them.

Back when I was stationed on a ship these were SUPER common, as we only had a couple of public TVs we could use, and hooking up your console to play a single player game was a huge break of our unwritten law, so people would take these with them so they could still play games on days off.

u/ChitinRed · 2 pointsr/gaming

Something like this is probably what you'll want. https://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-Personal-Environment-XBOX-ONE-S/dp/B00H0R9DSG

For hotspots, be prepared to pay a lot. The data plans get kind of expensive, especially if you're doing game chat, since it's even more for it to send and receive and you'll run through smaller plans quickly.

u/gp_aaron · 2 pointsr/Games

Those two should not be equivalent. I know they commonly are treated as equivalent but they shouldn't be.

If you're going to consider a laptop as an equivalent to a console, the console price should take into consideration the form factor and included display at the very least. Add something like the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_npDaAbQ8JFHE9 at $350 USD or Xbook One http://www.xbookone.com/ for $1500 USD.

You can get a decent laptop that can holds its own in gaming for $900 to $1500.

When we discuss Xbox you assume the person has a display and audio already, why not do the same and just replace console with desktop. You can easily use a desktop on a TV with plenty of options for couch control. You can definitely build a more powerful desktop for $500 (plus $50 to spend on a controller or keyboard and mouse) than you'd get out of a $900 laptop.

Sorry this isn't directed at you per say, just that general comparison that doesn't equate to me. Like comparing a truck to a car, different purposes with different benefits and deficiencies.

u/SSJ4Link · 2 pointsr/xbox

This is a full solution; but I am sure you can connect it to a projector and not the built in screen:

https://www.amazon.com/VANGUARD-Personal-Gaming-Environment-Consoles-Included/dp/B00H0R9DSG?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1&th=1

Or just a caring case: (leave the HDMI cable connected to the projector (I assume you use it for other things as well) and just would need to connect the console to the HDMI and then plug in power

Gaems vanguard. They also have a cheaper one called the sentry but its a glossy display and only 15"

u/Tonyhawk270 · 1 pointr/xboxone

GAEMS is the only company you want to buy these things from. They make performance cases with monitors that the professionals use.

The [Sentry](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_RqBdvb0651EM8
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_RqBdvb0651EM8) is the cheapest monitor/case GAEMS. 15 Inch 720p HDMI screen. Heard the Xbox One a tight fit in that model. The next one up is the [Vanguard](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mtBdvb1R2GN4Y
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mtBdvb1R2GN4Y). It's got a 19 inch 720p HDMI screen. Unlike the Sentry, it comes with a case shoulder strap and interior case lighting. The Xbox One has a bit more room in the case as well. The last model (that's currently out) is the [M155](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45U628/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_0BBdvb057840Q
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45U628/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_0BBdvb057840Q) which is an HDMI iPad-like ultra-light monitor that runs entirely on USB3 power. It doesn't include a case, however for a bit extra you can get a [cool backpack bundle](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PFCT900/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_xEBdvb1YQYAZV
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PFCT900/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_xEBdvb1YQYAZV) for it.

Hope this helped you.

I've got a GAEMS Vanguard. Traveled overseas to Australia from the US with it twice.
It's very rigid and and has interior tie down straps and padded interior to protect the system. Works with just about every system, but I was traveling with a PS3. Went overseas with it twice, packed it inside some checked luggage just to be safe.
But holds the system extremely securely, I got mine used for about $200.

Well okay, you have your ps4. What else do you need? A tv and a subscription.

A laptop? Well along with the machine you'll get a screen, a keyboard, and windows or whatever other OS you get.

You should compare a console to a desktop like some others are saying.

I didn't last long trying to use a TV/console if I had to have my own of both. Too much shit to jostle around and set up every time, unless the truck comes with a TV mounted, which I never had. I doubt a company that doesn't wouldn't go through to trouble if you bought a tv and would mount it for you, or even let you.

I had one of these.

Never had a problem with a ps3 slim and one of these running on a 300W. Look up power draw stats for whatever console you have. Obviously, the ps4 slim would draw less power than a launch ps4.

by "Extra" you mean ~3Amps @ 110V -- right? Because outside of a video output port and a AC/DC converter -- which you can get with a wall-transformer, the base is a cosmetic holder.
