the board game! Firefly: The Game
It's pretty fun...[Firefly] (http://amzn.com/0992251656)
Below is the official board game. It's pretty fun, but there is very little interaction between players during the game. It's more about racing to the finish

Firefly the game
It's really fun to play
Ah that is the actual game? It was listed under books :p

I might also check in with my local game store to see when they can get it on pre-order :)
Thanks! :)
Wow. I'm surprised to see so many mixed reviews on this game.
I absolutely love it. Granted, I'm a die-hard Firefly fan, but it really is incredible. It's so incredibly well connected to the show (you can tell the designers are also hardcore Firefly fans). There are a lot of thematic elements that bring the flavor of the show into the game (Misbehaving, Hard Burn, Crazy Ivan, "Solid Reputation" being a few that I can name off of the top of my head). If you are also a fan of the show, you will eat up every single reference that comes up in the game.
The only downsides that I see to the game are that it's time consuming and it takes up a lot of space. I have a small kitchen table in my apartment, so I usually have to break out a folding table to make enough space to play on. My friends have a 72" X 40" size table, and it's pretty tight, but we can fit on that table pretty well for the most part.
I noticed in another of your comments that you mentioned price was a factor. I found two sites that have it for a fairly good price:
Amazon
Cool Stuff Inc
If you are a fan of the show, I would absolutely recommend it.

I don't even... I just... I... OMG... That is adorbz. I feel guilty entering because I have a me-sized Jayne hat, but I see so many uses for an itty bitty one!
You definitely need the new board game on your list..
Edit: They can't take my yarn from me!
This is the official boardgame. It is massive and complex, but once you get the hang of it, it is a fantastic game. The expansions add a loy too (pirates and bounty adds player interaction for instance) and there is even a single player campaign that is still fun (good for learning the quirks of the gamr before bringing it to new players. https://www.amazon.com/Gale-Force-9-GF9-FIRE001-Firefly/dp/0992251656
If you are into board games, I have the Firefly game that I bought recently and have not had the chance to try out. http://www.amazon.com/Gale-Force-9-GF9-FIRE001-Firefly/dp/0992251656
Ahhh, game night over here as well! Firefly with the extension packs this time.
>"It is also for sale on Amazon for $26.10 with free prime shipping." - /u/jhturbo
(No need to delete your post dude, it's fine. I made that mistake as well when I looked)
That's for the expansion: Firefly - Pirates And Bounty Hunters - Expansion $26.10 with Amazon Prime. The regular board game is Firefly: the Game $41.29 with Amazon Prime. There's another expansion, Firefly: the Game - Breakin Atmo: Game Booster Expansion Set $10.35 with Amazon Prime.
Firefly game 3-5 players and it is a pretty long intense game
I'll bring a dessert, self saucing chocolate pudding with raspberry coulis and to drink, lemon & lime mineral water.
Although I might have to make it at your house, I don't think the pudding would last the 27 hour transit time from Australia to America...(Also, could you pick me up from the airport around 6? I can throw in some petrol money for the inconvenience...)
Lana is always appropriate for any dinner with friends, and National Anthem is my favourite right now.
As a Browncoat it's mandatory I bring the Firefly board game I've never played it and this is as good a time as ever!
I don't know our lovely host Junigole, and I can't be rude and not ask how they're doing and get to know them!
Price history on Amazon is here. Note: CSI has it for $32.99 if you're already bundling an order.

Or this on my Misc list.
Or this from my Dream List
Maybe even this which is on my Books I have a lot of them :D
Item which would most help you achieve a goal. We're designing and building our own home over the next couple of years so the book would be very helpful in achieving that goal. It is located on my House Design wish list.
Best item to bring to a deserted island. Eating is important, being able to cut things is important for eating. On my Cooking & baking list.
Firefly the game
Well, if you look at the Amazon listing, 90% of the reviews are 4 star or higher. I've played it with a dozen people or so, not all Firefly fans, and the game is extremely well received.

As far as how it relates to other games, it gives you a huge amount of freedom. The best way I can describe it is that it's a free roaming board game. You have end goals that you work toward, but how you get there is 100% up to you. You can go anywhere, talk to anyone, buy anything, arrange your crew and equip them however you wish.
Full disclosure, the first time you play won't be a 'real' game. The rule book is daunting the first time you look through it, but that's mainly due to how you have to set the board and your ships up. After a few turns, everything makes sense and it's actually a ridiculously easy game to play.
I see it all the time in my local Target, though I don't see it online.
Here's an Amazon link
Given you like scifi, and if you happen to like Firefly, there's a Firefly RPG and a tabletop Firefly: The Game.

It's honestly surprising that you don't have the Firefly board game on your wishlist. It's an absolutely amazing game, and truly feels like you are in the show. I enjoy it immensely, and I think you will too.
