I use Gatorade Chews. They're a dollar a pack at WalMart and each pack comes with 6 blocks, so taking one every thirty minutes in your run keeps your carb level up and can last for 3.5 hour runs. Affordable and effective, I don't use anything else. (Oh, and take the chews out and put them in a ziploc bag before your run. Trying to open that package with sweaty hands is damn near impossible)
