Omg. Thats horrific. Thanks for the nightmare juice. Azamax my friend.

Azamax for me is the organic version of “nuke em from orbit”.

It should be fairly easy. If you want portability, buy some Smart Pots, they worked much better than the standard plastic pots I was using before. Spend some money on some good nutrients for the N-P-K phases. I used the Fox Farm Trio for my first grow, but I will be moving onto more organic products next year. Make sure to feed them less than what the bottles tell you to. Good soil is very important, I used Roots Organic. Then get some Molasses and feed it about cap full once every couple of weeks while it's vegging, and once a week when it flowers.

One mistake I made on my first grow, was ignoring pesticides. Next year I will be using Azamax once a week when it's vegging. Caterpillars can ruin a good amount of your crop in no time.

I think that's pretty much all you need for a cheap, and low-maintenance grow. Buy some Fiskars trimmers, and a microscope when you think they're ready for harvest.

If you want a safe pesticide, look into products containing azadirachtin, e.g. Azamax.

Prices vary wildly, so just keep in mind the concentration of the active ingredient.

edit - I used to mess around with oils and detergents for aphids, but I really like how (in the absence of overhead irrigation) the leaves remain treated for a significant amount of time.

The live nematodes that I ordered seemed to work great, no more fungus gnats. However there's still a ton of spider mites, perhaps my predators didn't survive the shipping.

I've just ordered some AzaMax, looks like it contains the active ingredient in neem oil. It's just for flowers (hibiscus that overwintering indoors), so it that doesn't work, next stop is the harsh miticide route.

though i have never used it, a couple of bloggers swear by this stuff for mealy bugs. I would caution you to continue checking your plants routinely for bugs every day for 7 days if you found them on one plant. Mealy bugs have a 7 day life cycle, most of which is spent at sizes too small for the human eye to see, and they are highly communicable even if the plants aren't touching or even on the same side of the room! they like to hang out at the center of the rosette where the leaves are tender, around any flower stalks you might have going on and at the base of the leaves where they are hard to see (jerks)!
best of luck!

I've used neem oil but only as a preventative. Bugs didn't get on my plants after I sprayed them, but they didn't have bugs before that either. The other "spray" that I've heard of people using is Azamax. It claims to be natural and "works on aphids, thrips, scales, fungus gnats, spider mites, and whiteflies", so even with the bugs not fully identified it looks like Azamax would kill them. If you do diatomaceous earth on the plants to kill them, use one of these to make application easier and more effective.

killing aphids: use one of the below sprays in morning, let it sit, rinse it off in the evening.

pyrethrin, azamax

Soil/fert: Your ph could be too high if you use fish ferts+peat+soil. If ph is too high your plant will not absorb nutrients no matter what you throw at it, there are testing kits at hydro or homedepot/lowes or amazon. You probably need an extra source of calcium for sure, Lime could help you out with both low calcium and ph.

water: Once they are past seedlings (2 sets of leaves) you can start watering them less.. At least 1 day for the soil to dry out between watering, If you soil stays wet for a long time then you don't need to water for 2 or 3 days.

shade: 12 hour direct full sunlight can be damaging, if you deck gives a little shade(like for 2-5pm or something) that would be nice.

Neem Oil is good but imo pretty stinky/musty smelling.

I had this problem. I ended up ordering some Azamax and SM-90

I put a bit into a spray bottle of plain water, and drenched the plant just before lights out. I haven't seen any signs of mites since.

Prior to this I used Diatomaceous earth in small quantities in the carpet and dirt in the pot. I also sprinkled a little on the plant itself, but it was washed off with the sprayer once the better stuff arrived.

SM-90 is also nice to add when watering the plant as it's good for building roots.

I agree w Drunkeves I would spray them with Azamax to be safe. Be sure to use protective equipment. AzaMax is an antifeedant and insect growth regulator which control pests through starvation and growth disruption

u/wiredgrow · 1 pointr/GrowingMarijuana

AzaMax will kill those bastards. Flower safe too. Spray them, wait about 8 days and spray again. You seriously don't want those things leeching nutrients out of your leaves. Your leaves will turn white and they'll just multiply.

This works well. Can be used until day of harvest on fruit..

Azamax -- Only thing that works for everything I've encountered.

If I may suggest, for your species go Juliet tomato variety. They are extremely prolific and also an indeterminate variety of tomatoes. This means they will grow and grow as long as you give him space to grow. I plant these in Solo cups and put them outside and Ma Nature does the rest. When they are 6 to 8 inches I transplant them. One plant needs a lot of space so don't plant 2 within a few feet of one another.

They produce cherry/Roma tomatoes and lots of them. By far the best variety and easiest I've grown. I live in FL and heat is a problem. These guys LOVE heat and hate cold.

Here's a video that made me want to grow them.

Also for bugs (especially mites) I prefer to use Azamax. This stuff is a miracle in Florida (lots of bugs)

I bought 16 oz of this to combat the problem but the first review says it's no good for cannabis... I can cancel the order still if anyone has any better recommendations.

Thank you!

Edit: I ended up cancelling that order and buying this

I would recommend you try AzaMax. I had a coworker recommend it to me to help with spider mites and it did the trick! http://www.amazon.com/General-Hydroponics-GH2045-4-Ounce-AzaMax/dp/B0032JYKGG
