  • Best Screwdrivers on earth.
  • Gerber Diesel Multitool

  • (ETA) My keychain carries a 256gb corsair survivor stealth memory stick. Handy.

It's pretty clear I primarily work in server rooms and datacenters :P

Buy some sort of multi-tool. I use a Gerber Diesel when working outdoors or on a set (I'm a gaffer/DP) and a Leatherman Squirt on a keychain all the time. I use them at least once a day.

You don't realize how useful the tools are until you find yourself without them.

I like this one. It's inexpensive, compact, solid, one-handed opening, and comes with a nice sheath.

Gerber Diesel. It's right at $50, but well worth it. File, scissors, knife, saw, and it's nice and small. I wear it on my hip every day for weeks and hardly notice it's there.

I liked the Skelletool, particularly because it can be clipped off, but I and many of my mates have broken them, over and over and over again. The pliers give up really easily, for some reason. Leatherman always replaces them, but it's a hassle for when you're in the middle of something and they break.

For the record, I also have the Leatherman MUT, which is much more expensive, but more versatile. However, it's also heavy and bulky, and ended up being too much for me to carry around all the time.

Absent any particular application, maybe a really good multi tool, a 6 in one screwdriver, and/or a super high quality flashlight.

I have two, one being this beast: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EDVU2K/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8

The other is about 14 years old and has been with me through it all. It has really taken a beating. It has been thrown, run over, lit on fire, had high voltage sparks shot at it, and been exposed to pool and salt water fish tank chemicals. You couldn't tell from looking at it.

The older one is this one: http://www.gerbergear.com/Industrial/Tools/MP600_47563

Knife: definitely something more beefy than the Leek (while it is a beautiful knife you may want something more rugged I like the Ontario rat 2 or the fixed blade Rat 3 I also like this gerber "survival knife"
Light: that's a great light good pick
Multitool: This gerber is my favorite, they've taken me through two deployments overseas and still run like a champ
Pen: Space pen for sure
