definitely. Though a decent knife for the price it doesn't compare to the non Hollywood version.
Well... I'm sure it's "ok". I feel it's a better quality and as an american I can be happy it's made in the U.S. The consensus on this sub (from what I've seen in the past) is that bear grillis gerber knives are crap.

that said, the bear grylls knife is a good knife, especially at the price point. the LMF II is similar but the butt hammer is a different style and the sharpener on the sheath is different as well.
my main complaint about the bear grylls knife is the firestarter. there's a small portion on the back of the blade to scrape it but it just feels awkward when doing so. using the main blade however, will dull it and thus should not be used.
That is a very large knife, almost 17" long, which is a bit big for my tastes. My favorite at the moment is a Gerber LMF II but the ubiquitous KA-BAR is also hard to beat.

Yeah, I have a Gerber Magnum that I carry primarily for self-defense, but I also have it for the off chance that I need to cut something, tighten my glasses or whatever else may come up (Zombie Outbreak). It's pretty nice, considering it's my first "real" knife, but it's starting to collect a bit of rust build on the face. It's really my own fault though, I haven't bothered to read up on how to care for a knife properly yet, so I'm pretty sure with a little scrubbing it would come off pretty quickly; I'm just hesitant to throw just any old chemical on it, as I'm afraid that it could weaken the metal or stain it some weird color.
After I return from Boot Camp I'm also considering buying either a Gerber LMF II Infantry Knife or a Smith & Weston Bullseye as a graduation present for myself. I like the thumb stud of the S&W, but I'm not crazy about the rather large serration on it.
The LMF II is the only thing worth having in that entire kit. In fact, it's all you would need.

It, along with my Swedish fire steel and tomahawk go with me every time I go camping. I've abused the shit out of this knife and highly recommend it. There was a drawback I thought of before purchasing it, not full tang, and not really well balanced because of this. After owning it I haven't noticed it at all. In fact, I cracked open a couple of geodes with the hammer pommel and didn't feel it at all because of the grip style.
I got two, one for my glove compartment so I can smash out of car by breaking window with hammer pommel and one for my camping kit. Its the best outdoors knife you can buy in my opinion.
