You don't need any previous experience or understanding. If you think you see a pattern forming there is a page that helps to figure out which one it is, then you can read that section of the book. Schools and universities only teach about markets and finance. They don't teach successful day trading which is more like trade secrets of prop traders, hedge funds, and hft firms. You can get schooling in majors like finance to help get in financial industry related jobs at (investment) banks, stock brokerages etc. (see career diagram)
