Get some Dishwasher Magic. Follow the directions, and run it through for a cycle. You can pick this up a Walmart or most supermarkets.
Empty the machine. You basically place the bottle upside down in the cutlery rack, and run the machine. The heat melts the wax seal, and releases the cleaning agents. It will clear out the built up crud from the lines, and your machine will run a lot better.

Then try glisten dishwasher cleaner or something similar. I have also heard of using lemon jello or lemon koolaid powder or vinegar, but I trust the bottled stuff more than my own concoction. But you can experiment!
