I too have heard about these tenuous links between GI inflammation and RA. Again this is all too new to make any conclusions.

That being said, we know VERY little about how our gut really works. If you're interested, I highly recommend this book:
Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ. There's so much new research going into how the health of our gut affects pretty much every single other system in our body. It's really a wonderful read.
