All 8 films on Blu-ray. Region-free. About $50, including shipping.

Ordinarily, I'd be supremely ticked off about this news. However, I was getting this set for Christmas anyway.

If this means the DH1/2 Ultimate Editions sets are now cancelled, I'm glad I didn't splurge on the rest of the sets.

I would get the UK Blu-ray set.

3 Extra discs, the last 3 movies are two disc sets. its 5 bucks less, and region free.

Amazon.co.uk is taking preorders for the region-free blu-ray version for under $50 if anybody's interested in saving a little money. It shows the price at £32.30, but that includes the VAT, so the price gets lowered during the checkout process for those not living in Europe.

Why on earth would you pay $60 for an electronic copy when you can have all 8 movies on physical Blu-ray region free for £27.14 ($41.90)?

I bought this set in 2011 for £30.00. They shipped it out Royal Mail, cleared customs just fine and it arrived in mint condition! There was minor labeling differences on the disks and jackets and one movie was called the philosophers stone instead of the sorcerers stone. The same thing at Amazon US was $99 at the time.

Now, think about this, the same set here in the states is $61.75 at Amazon, so why buy an electronic copy of only the movie when you get the whole set with all the extras which you can keep forever for only $1.75 more?

If you want to save $20, you can get it out of England.

One thing I've learned is that Amazon UK usually sells the same movies cheaper, simply look at the technical specs section to see if it is region A (US) or region free. Your Amazon.com credentials work at Amazon.co.uk, they already have your credit card number and shipping address and they'll do the currency conversion for you.

On August 31st of last year, I bought the region free BTTF trilogy on Blu-ray for £10.00 along with The Ultimate Bourne Collection on Blu-ray (Region Free) for £10.00. Shipping was £4.07 and it came up to only $39.59 delivered.

That same year, I bought The Pacific and Band of Brothers on blu in the collectors tin's, across the Atlantic and across this country, delivered for around $49 when just one of those was selling at Amazon US for $55.

As of this posting, the BTTF trilogy on Blu-ray is going for £11.80 ($18.22).

They also had word changes in the books and movies:

I actually ordered the UK version of the Blu-Ray collection to have the original dialog. And it was cheaper to have it shipped to the USA than buying it here, somehow. :p

I ordered this one. It was only about $43 and change.

The cat is priceless, tho. :-)

A little OT, but are you in the US or the UK (or elsewhere)? Amazon UK has some spectacular deals on blu-ray sets. (I picked up the full Harry Potter series (fantastic on BD) for about $50 US (now about $45 and the complete Battlestar GALACTICA series (another stunner on BD) for around the same cost a year or so back (it's now about $66 US).

Oh man, this scared me for a second. I had pre-ordered this from amazon already and I thought I missed out. Turns out the set I ordered and the one posted here are exactly the same with respect to content. The only difference is that the one posted here comes in a nicer box and has the DVDs for the 8 films. If you don't need the DVDs and don't care about a fancy box or a pre-order number, I'd stick with the cheaper one that I had already ordered.

You can get the UK version here. Its a much better set, just preordered myself, reddit thread on it here
