Was it this one? It's served me so well and it was so much cheaper than the apple one! and I didn't even need an extra HDMI cord.

Gotcha. I'm thinking I'm gonna need two of these:

And then run the 13 in clamshell mode. Theoretically I can get three monitors on it, but I hear it gets wildly hot.

Buy this adaptor. Then you can plug in any HDMI cable from the adaptor the TV.

Alternatively, if you don't already have an HDMI cable... you can save money and just get a 6 foot long adaptor.

You can get a refurbished Lenovo T430 for around $600 which is a very rugged laptop, one of the most indestructible around and it retailed for around $1000 new. While it doesn't have an HDMI, it does have a mini DisplayPort, which you can easily add a mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter to and carry that around with it instead of a normal HDMI cable.
