If this isn't going to work there are also cheap USB capture devices that can help getting the videos on the pc.
You're gonna need a converter of some sort. I had one of these for awhile, but it crapped out after probably a year or so, and was a pain to get the software working with it. There's also the Dazzle, and a half dozen other products.
It only supports S-video and RCA.
And yea I can verify. I have speedrun SMW from the input on the EZcap rather then on an actual TV and not noticed any delay.

That is a knockoff. Its black and does not have ezcap on it. It also does not have the peanut shape.
Well from connecting to a capture device. You won't need much to be able to record. Since the recording is handled by the device. Most laptops would do the trick. I recorded of a pretty low end one not to long ago.
Also This and This are also options. Keep in mind to record on the PS3 you have to use either composite or component cables. The Roxio is Component only and these other two are composite only.

Using a cheapo capture card going into Debut Video Capture. we've tried recording the audio in multiple different programs including Debut, Audacity, Windows Sound Recorder, and the software that came with the card, all of which sound horrible.

Also video is not transmitted via USB, only data is.
If video is transmitted via USB it has a coder/decoder on each end, and most likely the input to the playback device is going to be HDMI or some other video connector.
