My Westie used to do that, but with his water bowl whenever he thought it was empty. Only, it usually wasn’t empty, so he’d end up flinging water across the kitchen. We eventually got these so he couldn’t lift it out. Now he politely taps his bowl until I go over and show him that there is water in there, he just didn’t look.
He’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he’s really adorable to make up for it.
