I agree. I am the Dominant, i don't always need an "excuse" to "punish" her, as long as my partner gives consent. The fact that I want to should be enough, so we have exchanges like this.

"Get your chastity belt, please"
"Why, I didn't do anything, Sir?"
"Because I want you to."
"Okay, fair enough, Sir"

Sometimes she gets bratty in those situations and makes her own situation worse. Of cause she can always revoke consent and flat out refuse to play, if she's not feeling well, without any consequences.

Also this arbitrariness spices things up a little, I figure it would be boring for my sub if I'd become too predictable.

I also have a mechanical counter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071W3QTBX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_6cvuDbFM5GVXX) to keep track of her misssteps discretely when in public.
She's really good at not having a 0 on this counter, so actually lately I've almost always had a reason.

This. Ive hosted a game like this and it works super well. Just be sure to put them at the base of a flag so its obvious where it is.

You can also put a clicker counter at each hard spawn to track respawns:

(not a clinician. hope this is ok.)

I had a clicker at one point for headache tracking. Every time I had a headache, I'd click it. My only problem was that I'd dissociate and click it multiple times for the same headache.

Also, things like drawing a line for every time I wanted to SH was a good preventative/also kept track for me of how many times that happened.

Printouts: Easily lost or destroyed. Generally awkward to pull out and do.

Notebooks/Journals: Heavy, bulky, half the time I can't read my own handwriting. Also awkward.

Apps: I don't have a smartphone.

Open ended questions/Anything more than one variable at a time: Too complicated and overwhelming. If the answer is repeatedly "I don't know", I feel like I'm failing. So, if I have to pick a word for how I feel, I'm unlikely to do it. If the question is "Do you feel sad?" I'm much more likely to at least try.

Couch to 5K worked for me

Beginning on the third week, it says you can measure by distance, or by time. It's up to you, but I went by distance. How I measured this, was running around an indoor track. I knew each lap was 200m, so I used a golf counter like this one to count laps.
