I know people here love to hate Hosa, but if you really want to go this route something like this https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-DOC-106-Insert-Direct-Out-Adaptor/dp/B00FC4Z6WQ is better then a half inserted cable.
Yea, it's hard to find them these days without molded jacks. The ones I got were in a consignment shop, likely originally molded jacks someone had cut off, or made custom to begin with.
EDIT: apparently they make these now, haha https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-DOC-106-Insert-Direct-Out-Adaptor/dp/B00FC4Z6WQ. It's about double the cost of the materials you could just make them for, but that's a lot of prep and soldering if you did make them
