I would. However, I've always assumed that transcripts of standup specials would be subject to IP laws, which is why we haven't seen this happen.

Some of my favorite podcast episodes ever were when Ari Shaffir got permission to play and dissect some standup specials with his guests. It's a fascinating discussion.

Stewart Lee's book also does this: he transcribes his specials and then footnotes them. Easily one of my favorite books on comedy now.

Yeah, I'm a bastard. What a bastard I am to mildly disagree with someone in a pleasant manner!

I like Stewart Lee. I agree with some of what he says - but even he himself (you should read his book btw) admits that he takes left wing views to an extreme in his acts.

Hard pass.

For an actual comedian's perspective check out Stewart Lee. He's extremely self-aware and clever. Even wrote a book on analyzing comedy.

I'd recommend having a read through his book.

The jokes take to page quite well. Don't read it on a kindle - he's gone out of his way to make that difficult.

Lee jest jak najbardziej komikiem stand-upowym, podkreślał wielokrotnie w wywiadach (i swojej autobiograficznej książce, How I Escaped My Certain Fate: The Life and Deaths of a Stand-Up Comedian), że za takiego się uważa.

A propos ludzi którzy sami się nie uważali za standupowców, a są tak powszechnie nazywani - polecam też twórczość Andy'ego Kaufmana, wybitnego, moim zdaniem, komika.

How I Escaped My Certain Fate by Stewart Lee is the best book on stand up I've read.
