See how the alternator is mounted? It looks a lot like the part that you have been told to purchase.

With a part like an alternator bracket it's not so important that you find the exact part that you had before, it's more important that your new part has bolt holes in the same locations and places your alternator in relatively the same position as the other part. Now if the power steering pump was mounted to the same bracket then you may need a separate bracket for it.

These engines were put in lots of different vehicles so something from a mercury or a lincoln may work fine in your ford.

I have this book which I have found very edifying. It won't help you, but you should look for something similar for ford engines.
