Seems sturdy enough and it will have room for my old HT-CT260H that I refuse to replace right now underneath it.

depending on TV size, we got something like this before we wall mounted our TV, and it was great. Looks sleek, and allows the TV to be raised / lowered / rotated a bit.
Not too expensive either, if you dont want it on the wall
they make aftermarket television stands you can buy. itll even give you enough room to stick a center channel underneath.

I had the same problem with my TV, I ended up getting something like this. Not the cheapest solution, but it works well.
