I've been reading In the Country by Mia Alvar. It's a collection of short fictional stories about Filipino expats around the world. All the stories are compelling, and it honestly feels pretty awesome to finally read a book with Filipino protagonists. The characters feel like real people and their experiences feel authentic. I hope to read more Filipino-centered literature in the future!
