It's a probably a bit of false-friend mis-translation.
One with a backlight helps it be easier to read when the edge of a plate or bowl shades the readout. I also prefer one that goes in 1g not 2g increments so halving things like a 14g tbsp of butter to 7g doesn't drive me bonkers and constantly go back and forth between two numbers. If you plan to weigh recipes in heavy pots or pans check the max weight. I've had a few scales so far, this is my current and I like it best so far.
