That was about what my budget was when I built my gaming machine. This will get you a solid machine that can play almost all games on the highest settings. This is what I would build if I had your budget. You might be able to find cheaper prices elsewhere, I was using Amazon because they have a very good search feature.

  1. An ATX Case - This is really a personal choice. There are so many out there, and for the most part, all of them would be a good choice. The key thing you are looking for is ventilation. Gaming rigs generate a lot of heat. Pick something that speaks to you. My gaming system uses a Cooler Master HAF XB EVO.

  2. Intel i7 8th Gen processor - $450

  3. MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon Motherboard - $160

  4. SSD Drives - I have two Samsung SSD drives in my system. One is 500GB I use for my OS and the other is 1TB for my gaming storage. Do NOT get a mechanical drive for your gaming storage.

  5. Video Card - This is where your money will go. Video card prices are insane right now thanks to crypto-currency crap. The good news is that your budget still has enough in it to get a top of the line card, but it will hurt. I would go with a MSI GAMING GeFroce GTX 1080 Ti X. Those are about 1k. I personally use a MSI 1060 Gaming X+ and haven't run into any real issues with current gen games.

  6. RAM - I would go with Corsair CMR16GX4M2C3600C18 VENGEANCE RAM. I use it in my machine and it has been superb so far.

  7. Power Supply - Gaming systems use up a lot of power thanks to the video card. The standard one usually doesn't have enough wattage to handle it, so I upgraded mine. You want at least 750w on the low end.

    Whenever building your gaming rig, I would follow the list below. The higher up on the list, that is where your money should go. If a sacrifice needs to be made, do it at the bottom of the list.

  12. Motherboard
  13. Case

    I am sure the other gamers on here have their own list of what the best hardware is and how they would build it, but this is what I would do.

    I have been a PC gamer since the mid-80s and have built my own system every 4-5 years. The good news is that they made it idiot proof now. You literally cannot put in something backwards unless you use a hammer on it. The only part you may struggle with is the motherboard- case connections for your power button, reset etc. Some cases come as a single big plug, while others just a collection of tiny plugs.
