well, you can do a lot more with the Win, since it does run windows. after it gets old, grab a couple of USB ethernet adapter and turn it into a server or PF sense router. plus it will probably hold up over the long run than a JXD.

I had an S7800 and the firmware on it was horrible, the HDMI out had tons of issues relating to refresh rates. here's an example of the refresh rate being incorrect and causing the game to run at half speed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkN_Us9sBlk

the S5800 was a good phone kinda beside the fact to hear anything id have to put it on speaker phone, but then the volume up failed, then the volume down failed, then the SDCard would just stop reading requiring a reboot EVERY DAY, and there was no way to get it to restore mode or wipe it because there was no way to press the volume buttons, plus the gamepad button would press in and get stuck. plus there's no vibration, so no force feedback in games, and no vibrating when calls come in.

The S5110b, firmware problems again, but then the nand failed on it so it's now a brick.

so I guess it was only 3 devices, either way, all of them failed and it's obvious from the 3rd party roms you'll find that JXD just doesn't give a shit. not only that but they're ALL running outdated versions of Android.

if you do want a cheap android device to play games on, go and grab a BLU R1 HD 8GB , 16GB, its $59 for the amazon one with AD's but that won't be an issue, since the first thing you do is root it, and it will remove the ad's and crapware. then grab a clip to attach it to a controller or a controller that can hold it. I have one of these and I love it with both your still going to spend less money than a JXD product, get a newer version of Android, a really nice screen that has a glass front (none of the JXD products have glass it's all plastic that scratches easily as fuck) not only that but 8GB isn't going to be limiting as it is in an older Android JXD product since in Android 6, you can easily move apps to the SD card without jumping through hoops. plus since it's rooted and there's a lot of people that have these TWRP works so you can completely back up your phone to an SD card and if you have a problem you can restore EVERYTHING back to how it was and get back up and running in under an hour.

I tried looking into this a year or two ago (albeit, I didn't look that hard).

I think your best bet will be a Windows 10 tablet with a controller mount. That will handle some games and emulation, with the possibility of using a streaming service.

I tried this tablet: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MYZEPGP/ref=psdc_1232597011_t1_B01H3B17R8

For the price, it's a really cool little device. I played some of my favorite old school classics on it, and managed to get some emulators going decently well. But I ended up returning it after a few weeks. You really need at least 4gb of RAM to have a viable Windows experience. If you can, I would also shoot for at least an Atom x5 Z8350. The Atom processors really aren't built for gaming, but they're cheap. And will stream content well.

If you're willing to jump to 10 inches, you can get something like this:

And then pair it with a Bluetooth gamepad. Or a Steam Controller for greater flexibility, if you're willing to drop the joycon feel.

I haven't tried to find a decent DS emulator for PC, but I know DraStic on Android plays them pretty much perfectly (and can use your phone/tablet's touch capabilities for the bottom screen, as you'd expect). I have an Android device with built-in gaming controls (specifically an nVidia Shield), but you can probably use a clamping bluetooth controller like this one if you don't have a device with physical buttons/d-pad (or you can put up with virtual 'buttons', but eew)... :P
