I've built all kinds of cages and furniture for snakes, lizards, fish, rodents. I really would stress that PVC connecting sliding bins would be a failure point without substantial bulkheads. Tub plastic is brittle and doesn't get less so over time. Any cutout that is less than perfect will result in cracks/splits in the plastic over time, and that time would be very short if you're applying force to them. You're free to do whatever you want though.
I'm done commenting on herpetoculture posts. Good luck with your hot glue. It doesn't stick to PVC unless you buy specific kinds, but you upvoted that answer and downvoted mine because you wanted to hear it.
