Yep. That's literally all that happened to them. Anne Applebaum's "Iron Curtain: The Crushing of Eastern Europe, 1944-1956" is actually about the safety issues associated with curtains made out of metal, that were unfortunately in fashion in that part of the world at the time.
I've been reading Iron Curtain and boy was reprisal pretty common in Eastern Europe after the Soviets rolled through. Not just Jew on Nazi reprisal but ALL reprisal in general.
That's just the first example that came to mind because I recently read this book so I could talk about it in detail. Naturally, the Soviet Union did this on a much larger scale, but I am not personally familiar with the details of those campaigns, so I didn't talk about them.
But thanks, my point was definitely that the Poles were the worst.
