I'm an ultrarunner and have been following the Ironfit basic routine for ultrarunners for about 2 years.
I typically run 4 days a week (Sat, Sun, Tues, Thurs) and do strength/lifting 3 days (Mon, Wed, Fri). Yoga and some core work (at home) most days of the week.
This year I've done two 50 milers and a 50K, have a 100K in May then 100 milers in both June and July, will see after that. I'm 39 and have had some historic back issues (herniated discs) and find that running + strength + yoga/flexibility works best for me in terms of diversity. Running is the only aerobic stuff I do, though I bike to work most days.
Time-wise, always lift in the AM, and alternate morning/PM for running.
