I've never used a lightsnake but it seems that people have problems getting it to recognize the cable.

If the cable is bad, try getting a simple 1/4" to usb interface. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/JAM-Studio-Quality-Guitar-iPhone/dp/B004Z8VQ2O/

Hey man, I think there’s great potential there. Like the other guy said, quality and the timing getting messed up in Audacity were the worst but I think you’re on the right track and the bones of it are great. I record guitar and bass on my iPhone too and have come to REALLY love this. Cheap investment will make a world of difference.

An Apogee Jam should work, and also hooks up to an ipad or iphone.

That's awesome. If I used that with this http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD821ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter could I use an iPhone or iPad?

What would the difference between this and the Apogee Jam? They seem to have essentially the same functionality.

I think I want to go with a 30 pin, and the two I was looking at on Amazon are the Apogee JAM and the iRiffPort, but I don't feel I know enough about either to make a call. Any thoughts?

Hi everyone. I want to start collaborating with my brother in law who just moved across the country. We plan to record stuff (he is an EDM guy, I'm a rock guy) on GarageBand or the like and send it back and forth to modify, add to, etc.

TLDR: What gear should I get to start recording music onto my computer??

I want to record my acoustic-electric and electric guitar. What is my best option? I have an ok USB mic, but I'm sure it would sound much better with a direct clean input. I am debating between these two devices, but don't really understand the difference:
