Yeah, don't leave your drinks unattended. I personally won't drink out of a glass anymore (unless I'm going to watch it) because I know he'll stick his big dumb head into the glass and knock it over.

My best advice is first to avoid giving him time outs. Cats don't really understand the concept of punishment, regardless of the breed. A simple, firm "NO" (not yelling; just in a low voice) is enough. Alternatively, make a hissing noise at him whenever he does something bad and move him away from the area. He'll understand that better most likely. As other people have said, ignoring him is the best way. To cats, any attention is good attention, whether you intend for it to be negative or positive. Don't let him get your attention by knocking stuff over.

What I personally have done is given my bengal a larger bowl that he's able to dip his paws into. I bought a non-tip bowl for him and it's worked wonders. I purchased this bowl in the Medium size, giving him both enough room to drink out of and stick his paws into without making too much of a mess. I usually only fill it half way so he won't track around too much water. That way he has a way to play with water without trying to reach for my glass. If you give him a positive outlet for his natural curiosity for water, then you'll find he'll be more interested in his own bowl than your glass.

EDIT: My boy is around your cat's age as well, he's 11 months now. So I understand him being interested in literally everything you do, kittens are just nuts sometimes.
