You should check out Moshe Kasher's Kasher in the Rye. Both his parents are deaf and he explains how he gamed it for his own gain (lots of rap music around his mom).

  1. Was college easy for you? I'd imagine sitting too far back in a lecture is a bad idea when it comes to lip reading.
  2. Would you get a cochlear implant?
  3. Are any of your parents/siblings deaf?
  4. When did your parent's figure out you couldn't hear?
  5. Based upon the vibrations you felt, what kind of music do you think you'd be into?

If you enjoy his comedy, you will enjoy his book too.
It is about his life growing up as a troubled a child who grew up in a bad neighborhood, had deaf parents, and had substance abuse problems.

Have you heard of the comedian Moshe Kasher? He's wrote a book about growing up being raised my deaf parents (among other things). Highly recommended.

Have you read Kasher in the Rye? Very funny memoir of a dude who grew up with two deaf parents in Oakland.
