https://www.amazon.com/Kiwi-Saddle-Soap-3-1/dp/B00GT2SCU8 ? It seemed like a soft waxy lube you rub into leather to keep it soft. Apparently a quick search showed some recipes and it has actual soap and lye in it for some reason. TIL
I'm somewhat put off by that, but the stuff I used to use worked OK. I just had to keep up with the coating. Maybe the stuff I bought didn't have the lye and soap in it? Maybe it deteriorated the jacket faster because of the lye? I don't know as it doesn't fit me any more.
I'm sure Johnson's paste wax would work too. Sno-seal as silicone oil in it and it works as advertised.
I looked in an old 1907 book "Henley's twentieth century formulas, recipes and processes" and didn't see anything saddle soap related.
Will Kiwi Saddle Soap dry out the leather in my shoes or help keep it hydrated? Trying to maximize the life of my less-than-top-quality-leather dress shoes.
