The hole down the center is the perfect size for a dentastick, although we give them sparingly since they're like doggy candy bars. Mostly we stick to antlers, he will gnaw on them for hours!
We also have a tough frisbee that he loves, though I don't recall the brand right now.
Does it need to be plush? This isn't, but has lasted us quite a long time.

My golden/German Shepherd mix's Kong crinkle stick lasted 11 months, and it was one of his top two toys (He actually just brought me his new one as I was typing that.). It stands up to tug and chewing. I haven't had much luck with other Kong toys; my dogs either aren't interested or destroy them quickly. I have also had much better luck with tennis balls made for actual tennis (Wilson, Penn) than tennis balls made for dogs. He'll pull the fuzz off the dog ones before breaking them into pieces.
Yes, mine was the same way.
