Just wanted say that I owned the Porta Pro but the uncomfortable factor made me ditch them (lasted 2 years before I cut the cord accidentally).

For the replacement I went for the KTX, which in my opinion are slightly better in terms of audio quality and loudness PLUS they feel amazing to wear. Around the same price

Not hating on the Porta Pros but if I had to buy one of the two, I'd get the KTX any day.

KSC-75 or
KTXPRO1

Get the KSC-75s unless you can't stand the clip on, then try the KTX Pros.

Oof. Headsets. Alright, here'd be my super budget plan: Get these Koss headphones. They have the same drivers as the KSC75 -- a phenomenal headphone for its price.

Second, we need a mic for the headset part of the equation. This picture sums up pretty well the cheapest option that we have. I don't know from experience, but it looks like we can stick that onto the Koss logo on the headphones.

A standard upgrade I do now is replace the speakers from helmet comm units with ones from some inexpensive Koss headphones.

These speakers are particularly loud and thin, making them ideal to fit in the helmet. A little soldering is all that's required.

I always wear earplugs, and with these speakers there's no problem using the comm system or listening to music with the earplugs in. Speakers + earplugs > earbuds. 1) earplugs get gross pretty fast, I buy my hearos in bulk, and 2) earbuds aren't legal, at least in California, but earplugs are. [I know it doesn't make any sense, but that's the law!]

I got these KTXPro1 Titanium for my mom because she is teeny tiny and didn't want a noise isolating headphone but they don't rest on her ear properly. I think the bottom side of the headband is too straight. Would the Porta Pros solve that problem anyone think? They kind of bow out more but they have that adjustable thing that I don't know exactly how it works but it looks right.

I wouldn't trust the latency/quality of wireless

these are probably the best bang-for-your-buck headphones

https://www.amazon.com/Superlux-HD668B-Dynamic-Semi-Open-Headphones/dp/B003JOETX8/

you can just buy one of these clip-on mics for them

if you want to go even cheaper, these are incredible headphones for the price

I know, I know, they look like shit that comes with a CD player from 1998, but you just gotta trust me, they sound better than my $90 Grado SR80's.

Disassemble a pair of cheap (but decent) headphones and solder them into your existing wiring.

People seem to like this one.

*edit: Some guy posted some pictures of his work here.

I just got these for myself

http://www.amazon.com/Koss-KTXPRO1-Titanium-Portable-Headphones/dp/B00007056H

don't be fooled by the looks. they're insane headphones. someone put them through a frequency analyzer and their graph was comparable to $500 grados. Before these I was using $100 grado SR80's and these have a wider soundstage and better bass. I will recommend these to people until the day I die. I even sent a pair to my sister because they're so cheap, and I owed her a christmas present.

Good question...

I have three headphones with volume dials.

The first is Koss KTXPRO1, found here on Amazon.

The second is the Altec Lansing im716: https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,1897753,00.asp

And the third is a pair of Ultimate Ears headphones, which are my favorite. But I don't know what the model is.

I also have something similar to this for earphones that don't have an inline dial.

I'm a big fan of the koss ktxpro1 headphones. They are inexpensive and have a very good response across the spectrum:

includes 1/4" adapter.
