I'm not sure what your budget is, but if you're the type to splurge on kitchen instruments... I have found getting a culinary heat lamp to be an invaluable purchase. They're like $90 but they just make cooking so much goddamn less stressful. I no longer have to worry that I'll spend 45 minutes preparing a big fancy fresh breakfast for myself and I'll still end up eating everything cold... I don't have to worry about things being done at different times when I'm serving guests. The heat lamp does a great job of keeping things piping hot while not adding enough heat to cook them any further (although I do sometimes put things real close to it so I can melt cheese).
