Have you tried caffeine pills? They're a lot faster, easier, and cheaper than coffee, and they don't taste like anything. I take a 200mg caffeine pill (about 2 cups of coffee) every day as well as two 200mg L-Theanine pills to prevent jitteriness (this is allegedly the chemical that makes tea calming), and it works perfectly.

L-Tyrosine is a prescursor molecule to the neurotransmitter Dopamine which is used throughout the brain to modulate reward and motivation.

Caffeine will also improve your focus and give you the effects you mention. You could also look into l-Theanine, which is considered a nootropic when taken with caffeine. This means that it increases cognition, which sounds like the effect you are looking for.

Thanks for all this info.

I drank the 2 cups faster than I normally do. However, in a given week I do end up drinking 1.5 cups one after the another if it is a drip coffee. And this one was a drip coffee..

I took one capsule of this . It did not have caffeine added.

My guess is that it was probably due to taking ltheanine for the first time. I am a programmer and have started on ltheanine to focus better while doing interview prep.

Love L-theanine.

Is there any reason why you use that brand as opposed to this one?

it's less than half the price.

Amazon. Nootropics depot is really good but not sure about how much shipping is for outside of the US. Overall this one from amazon was the one the doc at work recommended amazon

Learning about it seems to explain why I have little issues with caffeine in green tea or matcha vs coffee or an energy drink.

I find the NAC sort of similar to the L-Theanine. It is a marked but subtle effect. It does seem to help me deal with stressful situations. The NAC also has some added health (not mental) benefits such as liver detox. They are both non essential amino acids so kind of in the same family? These are the brands I take.

Reviews are somewhat helpful. Oh and one more thing, try them on an empty stomach to see how you feel.

This is what I take. Some people will recommend Suntheanine but I find this works just fine for me.

Last time it was Suntheanine. I think it is just my mind that makes me anxious about taking anything new, because it happens with other supplements for mental health in the past, as well as pharmaceuticals.

This is the one that I got:

L-Theanine is a green tea extract that helps to promote a sense of wakeful calm. For me, it's a game changer. It helps with my essential tremor and nerves/adrenaline.

It's cheap. Just try it, you will thank me later.
